In what is becoming a serious case of groundhog day, Avalon Raceway has once again been forced to abandon tomorrow night’s (Saturday Nov 27) meeting. The rain the the last 24 hours along with the forecast of more on Saturday has forced the fourth cancellation of a race meeting in succession at the Geelong venue.

“We walked the spectator mounds today and they weren’t too bad but the car park is a mess as we were close to getting bogged several times as we tried to navigate around the area,” lamented track spokesman Jeff Drew.

“More rain is forecast for Saturday and it just hasn’t been a good start to the season to say the least,” said Jeff.

Avalon Raceway is now preparing for the Sprintcar Fireball Derby slated for decision on Saturday night, December 11th and Avalon management encourages everyone to come along and support the venue following what has been a disastrous start to the season.
