Geelong’s Avalon Raceway welcomes Super Sedans, Modified Production Sedans, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans for an action packed event this Saturday night. Also the management at the venue have announced the rescheduling of the Victorian Sprintcar Title that was washed away last weekend to Sunday night, March 11 doubling as the $5,000 to win Great Southern Showdown.

“We tried desperately to find a suitable date to rerun both the 360 and open titles however the timing wasn’t right to conduct both titles on the same night,” lamented Avalon’s Jeff Drew.

“The open title will now be held on Sunday night, March 11 which was already a Sprintcar night on the calendar here at Avalon with the annual Great Southern Showdown headlining the program with V8 Dirt Modified’s also on the card.”

While the announcement is good news for Geelong Sprintcar fans, the 360Ci title however has been shifted to Simpson Speedway in April due to the national title for 360’s falling on the same March long weekend as the Great Southern Showdown.

“We definitely wanted to rerun both division’s on the one night but the availability of the dates meant it just couldn’t be done,” said Drew.

As for the action this Saturday night, Drew was quick to confirm this is a sedan lovers dream as all four classes will feature some of the sports finest drivers in each division.

“The V8 Super Sedans have always had a strong following in Geelong and I know the Modified Production Sedans, Street Stocks and Junior Sedans always put on close and exciting racing.”

Public gates open at 4pm with racing set to start at 7pm this Saturday night.
