Sadly Geelong’s Avalon Raceway suffered a washout tonight of the much anticipated $10,000 to win Sprintcar Jackpot. A stunning 31 car field was on hand for the event but the persistant showers following the A qualifier put a dampener on the remainder of the event.

Victorian regular Brett Milburn charged to the win in the opening 25 lap event to defeat Steven Lines and Nick Lacey in the process. Robbie Farr was the big mover advancing from a lowly 14th starting spot, as drawn by crew chief Nick Speed, to elevate himself into the top seven cars that would advance to the semi final.

Before the second 25 lap qualifier could be started the showers began and with Max Dumesny primed for a solid finish from his front row start, drivers such as fifteenth starting David Murcott and sixteenth starting Darren Mollenoyux had a major task ahead if they were to advance.

Sadly without a lap being turned the Drew family were left with no option but to cancel the remainder of the event with the radar showing still more rain to come throughout the evening.

The entire Drew family would like to thank the fans for their attendance and patience along with the Sprintcar teams for their support with this event that has unfortunately now succumbed to inclement weather for the last two seasons.
