Geelong Sprintcar fans are reminded and encouraged to visit the venue early this Friday afternoon to gain entry to the free ‘Pit Party’ between 3 and 4pm. The event marks the fourth round of Speedweek and Friday’s ‘Pit Party’ is a fantastic and rare chance to gain access to the drivers and teams as they prepare for the Avalon Raceway round.

The list of entrants continues to swell past the 40 mark and with 2010 national champion James McFadden currently in the hottest form of his short career he will no doubt be a popular drawcard at the pit party.

The 21 year old has won two of the three Speedweek rounds held since Boxing Night while six time Australian champion Garry Brazier was victorious in the other.

“The pit party has been a regular part of Speedweek over the last couple of seasons and it’s popularity continues to grow,” said Avalon commentator Brian Alexander.

“The drivers are usually the masked men and women of speedway and this free event is a fantastic way to get close while they are in a relaxed mood before the heat of battle laster in the evening.

Defending WSS champion Robbie Farr along with reigning Australian Sprintcar titleholder Brooke Tatnell will also be popular among fans.

The night’s event will also be a part of the season long Essendon Ford Sprintcar Championship where current point leader Tim Rankin holds a slender advantage over Darren Mollenoyux and Jamie Veal heading into Friday’s third round.
