The already impressive entry list for this Wednesday night’s $10,000 to win President’s Cup at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway continues to swell with numbers now reaching the high 40’s. The event is the 31st running of the storied President’s Cup that started way back in 1982 and it’s also the fourth round of the Essendon Ford Sprintcar Track Championship.
Entries received in recent days include US ‘gun’ Jason Johnson while young Victorian star Jamie Veal has also fired his entry into the Avalon Raceway management. West Australian Carl Dowling and now US based Aussie Peter Murphy have all signalled their intentions to compete.
They all will join a strong field including national champion and last start winner Brooke Tatnell, former winner Robbie Farr, the red hot and current track championship leader James McFadden, David Murcott, Kerry Madsen, Ryan Farrell and defending event winner and reigning track champion Stephen Bell.
Also among the list are American’s Craig Dollansky, Daryn Pittman, Paul McMahan, Lucas Wolfe, David Gravel, Danny Smith, Caleb Griffith, this weekend’s Chili Bowl podium finisher Kyle Larson and add Jason Johnson and you have nine of uncle Sam’s finest!
In terms of the Essendon Ford Sprintcar Track Championship McFadden’s superb results recently puts him at the top of the standing’s, narrowly ahead of Bell and Tim Rankin in third. Once again there will be a host of stars set to snatch points away from the regular’s ensuring there could be another shake up in the top 10 following Wednesday’s event.
