Once again Avalon Raceway has a Season of variety to keep Speedway fans entertained. The Victorian Speedway season officially kicks off in August with the Annual Swap Meet on Sunday the 18th which will see a wide selection of speedway equipment on sale.
Season 1013-14 will see Street Stocks, Junior Sedans, Modified Productions, Super Sedans, Super Rods, V8 Dirt Modifieds, Wingless Sprints, Speedcars, AMCA’s, GP Midgets, Formula 500’s and of course Sprintcars catered for.
October 19th Street Stocks kick off the Season with a long distance feature. Something new for them. Sprintcars will again feature strongly throughout the season kicking off with its unique jackpot race followed by the Fireball Derby on December 7th, then the Sharp Cranes Gold Cup on Boxing night. WWS rolls in town on December 30th.
January 11th will see the Open and 360 titles decided. January 23rd will be the Essendon Ford Presidents Cup which kicks off the biggest week of Sprintcar racing in the Southern Hemisphere. February 9th is the new Sprintcar date on the Calendar and March 9th will be Night Two of the Great Southern Showdown. April 19th will see Camden Neon present round 1 of the Easter Trail. One week later will see on new event with the ANZAC 360 Shield.
Open Sprintcars will for the fourth year running compete in the Essendon Ford Track Championship with the winner taking home a brand new Ford Festiva, second place will receive a ART Chassis courtesy of PRP Engineering, while Victory Lane will sponsor third place with a new top wing. Fourth place will get an Oval Express Subscription.
Super Sedan fans will catch the action 3 times, November 23rd, March 29th and of course January 4th for the Krock Cup, Victoria’s most prestigious Sedan event. Not to be outdone Modified Productions hit the track five times, including the Christmas Cup on December 26th and the final round of the VMPA series on March 29 and Victoria’s longest running event the Westcoast Classic on January 18th.
V8 Dirt Modifieds, Super Rods and Wingless Sprints will race three times each with feature events for all along with track championships. Speedcars also feature three times with their big event the GTown Rumble on January 18th.
Other events to draw interest will be the 4 Cylinder Demo and Fireworks at Easter plus Victoria’s richest Demo Derby paying $5K to win on January 4th, in all making one very interesting season ahead.
