The long awaited 2014 edition of the $10.000 to win Sprintcar Jackpot will signal the start of a memorable season at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway on Saturday night, November 8.
The unique format of the Jackpot is different to any other sprintcar classic in Australia which normally commences with qualifing as many drivers as possible for a distance event of 25 or 30 laps.
The Jackpot, this season presented by Combined Waste, will start with qualifications for 35 cars and whittle away the starting line up to 12 for the 10 lap final and a winner’s payout of $10.000.
“We started this concept several years ago to fuel the imagination and interest of drivers and it has worked a treat,” said Avalon’s Jeff Drew.
The sprintcar shoot out on November 8 will be headed by defending Australian champion David Murcott, the brilliant World Series winner Steven Lines, superstar Robbie Farr, Adelaide’s Daniel Pestka and the huge Victorian assembly headed by Darren Mollenoyux, Brett Milburn and Shaun Dobson.
Murcott’s car will proudly carry the number one on its wing and tail.
He won the National crown in a nail biting finish in Tasmania last summer and is looking forward to renewing hostilities on one of his favourite tracks.
“A lot of guys shy away from Avalon because it is tight and incredibly fast, but it has been good to me throughout my career,” noted the champ.
Steven Lines is one driver who bears considerable respect after a stellar season.
“No matter where he raced last season Steven was incredibly successful and he wants to open our season with a ten grand victory on November 8” predicted Drew.
