Sprintcar ladies Rhiannon Burleigh and Kristy Ellis are likely to fly under the radar for the $10.000 to win Sprintcar Jackpot at Geelong’;s Avalon Raceway on November 8.
Bendigo based Kristy and Melbourne local Rhinnon are proud of the fact they have both qualified for the Jackpot eliminators through winning heats at the track last summer.
Hauling a massive 850hp sprintcar sideways on the dirt at 160 kmh is far more taxing than netball or hockey and when things go wrong the end result is not pretty.
“We are extremely proud of our lady racers and both deserve a good result in the Jackpot classic this summer,” said Avalon Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew today.
Eight wild card entries will be added to the field later in the week but neither Burleigh or Ellis will need any favours to be in the two qualifying heats.
They have outstanding equipment and good teams supporting them so the task at hand is not impossible.
