Teams are leaving nothing to chance as they prepare for the ten grand to win Sprintcar Jackpot at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway Saturday week.
Moving the event to the first Saturday after the Melbourne Cup has been the prime motivator for the explosion of interest in the Jackpot that marks the capital city start of the sprintcar season in Victoria.
According to Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew the Bathurst 1000, Monster Trucks at AAMI Stadium and other motor related attractions have caused consideration of a November start to the speedway season.
“Our season starts with a big money classic and a field of the best drivers in Australia so we need to have everything working for it,” Jeff said today.
Promoters are over the moon about the quality of this year’s field which is the best in the history of the event.
Australian champ David Murcott, World series king Steven Lines, Sydney grand slammer Jamie Veal, globe trotting International James McFadden, SA chargers Daniel Pestka and Luke Dillon, Tasmanian Shaun Dobson, West Australian ace Robbie Farr, Wagga’s Grant Anderson and Victorians Johnny Vogels, Darren Mollenoyux and Brett Milburn are in the Jackpot mix.
Curators have already commenced grooming the clay oval at Avalon Raceway in preparation for a memorable Jackpot, presented by Combined Waste, on Saturday week, November 8.
