Queenslander David Clarke is leaving nothing to chance in defence of his V8 national championship at Avalon Raceway this season.
Clarke and his missile-nosed modified will make the trek down from Brisbane this weekend to contest the 25 lap V8 dirt modified trophy event at Avalon on Saturday night.
No David doesn’t have a sponsor’s petrol card at his disposal for the trip south.
“I am serious about the national title at Avalon in a month’s time and the more I get to know and learn about the track the better,” contends the affable Queenslander.
Local chances Darrell Hickson, Steve Millthorpe and veteran Lloyd Hobson will accommodate Clarke on Saturday evening.
“David is a quality racer who knows the benefit of hometown advantage and won’t be caught napping,” said Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew today.
Over 50 of the best non wing sprintcar drivers are entered for Saturday night’s premiership opener at the circuit.
Rain spoilt their last visit to Geelong and Formula 500 national champion Jessica Moulden will be ready to answer the challenge in point score opener.
Twin 25 lap main events for the V8 modifieds and wingless sprintcars will top Saturday night’s program to start at 7.00 p.m.
