American Kyle Hirst leads the Enzed Speedweek WSS teams into Geelong and Tuesday night’s fourth round of the championship at Avalon Raceway.
If Hirst, has a familiar face it’s probably because he spent so much time at the circuit last summer with sprintcar tour buddy Geoff Ensign.
Both got the hang of the tacky bullring and that experience should pay off for the King of California on Tuesday.
He will saddle up in Luch Monte’s pristine Milwaukee Tools entry alongside Adelaide round winner, SA driver Matt Egel who beat them at Murray Bridge in round two and Brooke Tatnell, the winner at Mount Gambier last night.
Hirst currently leads the WSS trail, but there is a long way to go and he’ll probably feel a little saddle sore by the time they travel through Queensland, Adelaide and the West Australian swing.
Australian champ David Murcott is as close to home as one can be at Point Cook so a good night’s sleep and travel to Geelong will be easy.
Defending World series champion Steven Lines should be in the mix on Tuesday night as will two times Avalon victor this summer, the incomparable Jamie Veal.
Gates open at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon while the pit walk for spectators follows with a meeting start at 7.00 p.m.
