Brisbane racer David Clark is leaving nothing to chance with the defence of his Australian V8 dirt modified title at Avalon Raceway this weekend.
The championship stretches over Friday and Saturday nights and Clark is ready for anything rivals might throw at him.
He made the long haul down the Hume six weeks ago knowing the Australian title was fast approaching at Avalon.
“I wanted to get a feel for the track, including the surface composition and how tacky it remained over a meeting,” David recalls.
He finished second that night to Victorian Brett Clarke in the main event, but drove back to Brisbane with a font of set up information for his car.
The 2015 national title has attracted racers from four States, including the Lismore area where the V8 dirt modifieds have been the headline act at the local Speedway for three decades.
NSW champion Kevin Britten, former national titlist Mark Robinson and Andrew Pezzuti are amongst the big three.
Qualifying heats and prelim main event will be held on Friday with the westcoast classic for modified productions. Saturday will see the final rounds of heats, grand final and supporting will be speedcars with G town Rumble.
Racing on both nights will start at 7.00 p.m.
