Robbie Farr turned his season around with a classic drive in the $10.000 to win the Essendon Ford President’s Cup at Avalon Raceway tonight.
One normally expects Farr to land a number of main event wins across Australia each summer, but 2014-2015 has been a shocker by his own impeccable standards.
Australian champion David Murcott secured the pole tonight and led the field in his Horrell Hurricane #1 until superstar Farr caught him 10 or so laps into the final.
They staged a thriller until Farr, in the East Coast Pipeline machine, effected a sensational pass and the two veterans pulled away.
American Daryn Pittman, a World of Outlaws standout, drove well to lock up third while WSS series leader Brooke Tatnell placed fourth with Victorian champ Daniel Pestka fifth.
The win is probably the tonic Farr needed at this stage of the season and with a big weekend ahead of him.
Mr Magic Jamie Veal filled ninth but his entry to that point included a win in the C main, fourth in the B and he shot into the first half dozen in the main from the rear until he faded to ninth.
American Jac Haudenschild was in the thick of things and never got off the outside groove.
There were a number of outstanding drives, but for sheer class Farr delivered in spades as did David Murcott and Pittman.
