When rain falls on Rod Laver Arena during the Australian Open they simply close the roof.

Unfortunately Avalon Raceway doesn’t have one so as light rain began to fall on Saturday night officials had to wait, organise wheel packing and do the whole exercise again.

At 10 o’clock the grade and pack show was considered wasted as light rain fell again and the wingless sprintcar National and V8 dirt modified Garden State trophy were abandoned.

Everything it seemed was doomed and fans headed for home which was a real pity because both finals promised plenty but came up short.

The Avalon Raceway action will now centre on the K Rock Cup for V8 super sedans and the Routleys Demolition Derby on Saturday night, February 21st.

This meeting was originally scheduled for January 3 but fell to the elements and an un-cooperative roof!
