You can’t take anything away from Jamie Veal this summer.
Unless you count a $20.000 on road new Ford Fiesta from Essendon Ford dealer principal David Dickson.
Jamie did not put a foot in the wrong place during the opening round of the Easter Trail on Friday night.
However, he came up five points short of scooping the Essendon Ford away from State champion Daniel Pestka.
Veal started from the front row and surged to the front early to head South Australian Luke Dillon and veteran Johnny Vogels.
Pestka started from eight and only made a couple of positions before the chequered flag fell.
The three round Easter trail series is co-sponsored by Essendon Ford, Camden Signs and Geelong Harley Davidson.
That means if Veal can sweep the remaining two main events he will pick up $15.000 in overall prize money, a new Harley Davidson motor cycle and a $10.000 bonus.
Friday night’s meeting wrapped up a successful season at Avalon Raceway and produced a terrific spectacle in the 30 lap sprintcar trail event.
Corey Gibson photos from Friday night show Daniel Pestka and Jamie Veal shaking hands before their 30 lap track battle and a wild moment during the 30 lap main as Kurt Luttrell heads for the heavens as Steven Lines (3) and Grant Anderson (37) look to escape you know what is about to happen.
