Over 40 cars raced non-stop on Saturday night as Avalon Raceway presented the G-Town Rumble for Speedcars, the Garden State Plate for V8 Dirt Modified’s and the Jason Glynn Memorial for GP Midgets.
The pace was set early as Mike Griffith took out heat 1 from Jessica Moulden and a fast finishing Anthony Chaffey. Heat 2 saw a strong Paul Farrell lead from the front with Troy Jenkins in for second and Domain Ramsay the third. Heat 3 and Jack Day works through the field for the win, Ramsey and Johnny K provide great entertainment and finish in that order. Heat 4 Troy Jordan checks out, Jenkins delivered a good chase and Chaffey in for third.
The pole shuffle roles out with Chaffey progressing from 7th to 4th beating Moulden, Jack Day, Jordan and Griffith. His run ends against Ramsey who then gets the better of Farrell, but Jenkins holds Ramsey at bay and cements his pole position for the main event.
The crowd is set for 30 laps in the G-Town Rumble and green flag drops. Jenkins gets a quick start but there is no breathing room with Ramsay and Ferrell close behind. Four laps in and Griffith rides a rear and catapults into corner 4. Mike is in good hands and we wish him a speedy recovery. The rumble restarts and the track is wide with the top line providing some great passing. We lose Johnny K with a flat and Matt Papa joins him on the infield. Jenkins spins with 5 laps to go and rejoins at the rear, Chaffey is out with 4 to go and then Ferguson flips. It’s down to a sprint finish to decide the winner. Domain Ramsay gets it done from Troy Jordan and Paul Farrell holds out Nick Parker to make the podium.
In the Garden State Plate for V8 Dirt Modified’s, Milthorpe is to good taking it from Hickson and Brett Clarke. For the Jason Glynn Memorial, Trevor Perry wins with Florrimell and Crawford sharing the trophies.
Join us this Wednesday night for a star-studded field at the Presidents Cup.
