Geelong’s Domain Ramsay takes the win as Avalon Raceway welcomed over 80 race cars to the track on Saturday night. Wingless, V8 Dirt Mods and Street Stocks delivered great racing to a captive audience in perfect conditions. With a record 67 wingless nominations, the night was set for wheel to wheel racing in this closely matched category.
The first round of Wingless heat wins went to Cook, Thomson, Green and Symons. Round two went to Bentvelzen, Storer, T. Hobson, Paterson and Hibbert.
Only two drivers from each of the three B-mains would progress to the A main, T. Hobson and Patterson, Hibbert and Weel, Alford and Halesworth made the cut. A six car pile up in the last B-main showed how tight the racing was. The A-main rolled out and the field quickly settled. Ramsay grabs the lead, but almost comes unstuck when trying the top side, Bentvelzen is close behind and every lap closes the gap. Two restarts later the 25 lap A-main it was a done, it was a consistent D. Ramsay from a hard charging D. Bentvelzen and skilful W. Logue who worked through the field from position 7.
The V8 Dirt Mod Main went to S. Milthorpe from D. Hickson and Z. Edwards. Street Stocks placing where A.Timberlake from C. Suiter and M. Viney.
Our next race is on the 26th of December for the Sprintcar Gold Cup, with World Series Sprintcars in the house on December 30th.
