One point separates hard charger Andrew Blackwell and Torquay young gun Kye Walters on the Tritech Lubricants VMPA Series leader board ahead of Round Four at Avalon Raceway this Saturday night.
Blackwell edged ahead of last season’s Series co-winner in Walters with a solid night of racing last Saturday night at Ballarat which culminated in a fourth place in the final.
Twenty-six cars have nominated for the meeting this weekend.
The Tritech Lubricants car usually driven by Faux will still make an appearance – driven by Trevor Mills. Mills’ record in Modifieds – and speedway in general – is very impressive. He has tasted success in the past with the series and has recently been displaying great form in Production Sedans.
Bannockburn’s Justin Drew will make his first appearance in the series this season. Drew is known as one of the top drivers in the country and this season has been travelling north to Queensland to regularly compete, he is always competitive wherever he goes and his car is presented second to none.
Matt Gerlach also from the Geelong area, who currently sits 10th in points, will also be looking to capitalise on his home track.
It’s Blackwell that holds bragging rights going into the round through as he took out the last feature race at the track on Boxing Day. Gerlach finished second and Nelson third on that occasion.
Gate open at 4pm, action starts after 6pm this Saturday night.
