With just one race to go, we look at the top 10 in the $20,000 Avalon Raceway track Championship.
Saturday night Cory McCallagh confirmed his place as the series points leader with a win that will be remembered for some tine. As he stood on the top of the podium after 30 laps, the crowd showed their appreciation of this young stars abilities. While crediting his teams work to keep the V90 in winning form, a quick look over his points accumulation shows a stellar season at Avalon including 4 podium finishes.
What will we see on the final night, the Geelong Harley-Davidson Easter Trail round 1 on March 30th? No doubt more of the same, with one exception. There is a chance for Shaun Dobson in the V3 to upset the party. Albeit a big ask, it is possible for Shaun to gain maximum points on the night and take the 20K from a non-qualifying Cory. Its not a stretch to say the field will be packed with the type of drivers and teams that have made the Easter Trail one of the hottest events on the calendar. With that level of competition, all pushing for the nightly and series win, anything can and usually happens. We have seen the Avalon Track Championship end in close fashion before, the last race of the last meeting of the season, on the last lap, in the last corner. Could this happen again? Its an exciting prospect and one that will play out on March 30th.
