The Avalon Raceway 2017-18 track championships have all been decided with Speedcars and Mod Prods finishing their season in spectacular form on Saturday night.
The Sprintcar title and $20,000 goes to Corey McCullagh with Jamie Veal for 2nd, Shaun Dobson 3rd and James McFadden 4th, the top 10 are listed below. In a standout season, Corey had consistently stood on the podium at Avalon Raceway, including three x 3rd placings and one win. He also scored points in 3 other events, displaying a commitment to the track championship over the entire season. There was a mathematical chance this could fall a different way during the last event on Good Friday, but this didn’t eventuate and Corey made the tittle of Avalon Raceway Sprintcar track champion of 2017-18 his own.
Speedcars came down to the last event with a tie on points between Dillon Ghent and Domain Ramsay, in a twist of fate, Domain’s engine throw a timing belt and Dillion’s engine was not on song for the final event. A second place in the A main allowed Justing McMinn to jump from mid pack to take the title for 2017-18.
Mod Prods where also tied for first between Andrew Blackwell and Matt Gerlack, it would be Matt taking the title with a 3rd place in the main event on Saturday.
Street Stocks champion is Chris Suiter, Super Sedans Ash Burgmieier, Wingless Dayn Bentvelzen, V8 Dirt Mods Daryl Hickson and Super Rods Ewan McKenzie.
