AVALON RACEWAY
20 MARCH 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Time Trials erupted into action at The Place For Pace, with the Australian Champion Jamie Veal dominating flight one.
Second flight of time trials it was Darren Mollenoyux in the V3 who made the late charge to QuickTime the second group.
Flight three it was the General, Jack Lee who ripped the V25 to the top step of the final qualifying session.
Jordyn Charge led the V60 team to an emotional opening heat race win, with a heavy emotional burden weighing on his chest. Charge led from hot contenders Jock Goodyer and Jamie Veal.
Darren Mollenoyux continued the unbeaten run into heat race two, winning from Daniel Pestka and Jesse Attard.
Jack Lee rocketed home in heat race number three to win off the front row, over Brock Hallett and Marcus Dumesney.
With the inverse grid format for the second round of heats, it was Andrew Hughes who picked up a popular victory and was proud to make the most of it.
Terry Kelly dominated heat race number five, doing everything right and winning from David Donegan and Tate Frost.
Grant Stansfield found his return to form he’d been searching for, winning the final heat race from Stephen Spark and Shaun Lyness.
Jamie Veal ran rampant in the pole shootout winning both the silver and gold groups to solidify the pole position start for the main event. Mollenoyux would start the V3 from position two with Jack Lee from three and Brock Hallett from fourth.
Shaun Lyness was ecstatic to have speed in the VA49 winning the C main, with Leigh Mugavin, David Aldersley and Sam Wren.
Tate Frost would go on to win the B Main, with Terry Kelly, Grant Stansfield, Andrew Hughes, Adam King and Marcus Green the final transferees through to the main event.
A main time would mean a large push for the one gap in turn one with a multiple car pileup involving Hickman, Frost, Hughes, Charge and more. Hickman would refire with a new right rear and Charge would continue with a collapsed front wing. While Tate Frost, Grant Stansfield and Andrew Hughes wouldn’t turn a completed lap.
Veal and Mollenoyux would duck and weave through lap traffic right through the length of the race with multiple lead changes between the pair of them. This would allow Marcus Dumesney to sneak his way up and close in the gap that Molly and Veal had opened up.
Mollenoyux would get parked right up behind lap traffic of Jesse Attard before making a race saving move across the inside of Attard to hold out Veal over the line and Marcus Dumesney who closed in quickly for third. Jack Lee, Daniel Pestka, and David Donegan would make up the finishing top six.
Domain Ramsay, Brock Hallett, Rusty Hickman and Jock Goodyer would make up the top ten. Jesse Attard, Adam King and Terry Kelly would be the last of the finishers with Jordyn Charge a late withdrawal.
JUNIOR FORMULA 500
LANEYRIE LEAPS AWAY TO WIN THE GIBBTRANS JUNIOR FORMULA 500S
Young Central Coast talent, Jac Laneyrie steered the NSW33 to a fond victory in front of a capacity Avalon Raceway crowd. A fast closing Tyler Maggs couldn’t quite find the track coverage to challenge Laneyrie for the lead late in the race, with a powerful Chad Bell in the V69 who also muscled up a solid run up to third after an earlier dnf.
Tyler Maggs was dominant in heat race number one to set his front row start, alongside Laneyrie who won heat race number two. Bell would find the wall in heat race number one before tackling heat race two missing the front wing.
The Main event would go green to chequer straight with a fantastic showing of car control and speed, well beyond the years of the drivers at the wheel of this Junior Formula 500 category.
Racing action is right back into the swing on Easter’s Good Friday on April 2 with the start of the Easter Trail with tickets on sale now at www.avalonraceway.com.au
