Carson Macedo achieves a historic milestone as the inaugural winner of the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar International at the Place for Pace, securing consecutive victories at Avalon Raceway.
The evening unfolded with Sprintcar action both on and off the track. The fan zone, featuring autograph sessions with drivers and an hour-long live preview courtesy of Clay Per View, contributed to the overall excitement of the event, creating a memorable experience for all Fans a easy to understand starting heads-up format where the fastest qualifiers took positions on the front row, seen the following drivers lock themselves into the International Dash V6 Cam Waters, USA87 Aaron Reutzel, N47 Marcus Dumesny, and A1 Jock Goodyer.
A distinctive feature of the Sprintcar International allowed fans to vote for the final two starting positions in the A Main. Supported by Doolan’s Heavy Haulage, Tate Frost secured one spot, while popular Wooster, Ohio, USA driver Sheldon Haudenschild claimed the fan vote for P20.
The 35-lap feature race was an exciting affair from the outset. Jock Goodyer, the reigning Australian champion, led initially but encountered a mechanical issue after 28 laps, paving the way for Marcus Dumesy and Cam Waters to vie for top positions.
Several cautions provided drivers with opportunities to reset, causing the field to bunch up as they navigated through, with notable performances from hard charger Tate Frost and young talent Jy Corbet.
Overcoming early challenges, Carson Macedo emerged victorious, claiming the lead and a $10,000 payday. Marcus Dumesy secured second place after a brief stint in the lead, and V8 Supercar Star Cam Waters secured the third spot on the podium.
The West Coast Classic, one of Victoria’s longest-standing Modfield production events, kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. Graham West, in an LJ Torana, dominated early heats and clinched another West Coast Classic victory.
Calvin Watts and Darren Cockerill engaged in a tight battle throughout the 20-lap distance, finishing in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
