RYAN NEWTON CLAIMS PRESIDENT’S CUP AT AVALON
Official Release: Avalon Raceway
Avalon Raceway crowned a new President at the 2025 Kubota President’s Cup as Queensland’s Ryan Newton triumphed against some of Australia & America’s best drivers.
The prestigious event, held at the “Place for Pace,” delivered plenty for fans in attendance on the traditional Wednesday night.
Qualifying proved critical to the night’s format, with pole position in qualifying directly determining starting positions for the heat races. Marcus Dumesny recorded the fastest times in Flight One, while reigning national champion Lachie McHugh topped Flight Two.
The heat races brought about some drama, before a President’s Shootout where Brock Hallett advanced from the Bronze Shootout to secure a front-row start alongside McHugh.
A packed crowd witnessed the 30-lap feature event, which began with Lachie McHugh’s C&H Trucking entry leading the field.
McHugh maintained control for nearly 20 laps before an unexpected left-rear tire failure handed the lead to Ryan Newton.
The young Queenslander faced relentless pressure from former President Cup winners in Jamie Veal and Brock Hallett but held his ground to etch his name into the history books with a feature to remember and a much welcomed confidence boost for the Queensland Business Sales & Nu Trend Quality Homes Q66 team
Jamie Veal secured second place and praised the Drew family for Avalon’s impressive track redevelopment, which provided an outstanding racing surface. Brock Hallett, last year’s President’s Cup winner, rounded out the podium in third.
James McFadden showcased a sneak peek into what the Team Brady PCB WX23 team has to offer storming through the field from the B-Main to claim the night’s Hard Charger honors.
Fan favorite Callum Williamson completed the top five, giving spectators plenty to cheer about ahead of a busy week of racing.
The result shakes up the standings for the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship, presented by Camden Signage & Transall Motors. With $30,000 in prize money across seven rounds, the battle is far from over.
In the Street Stocks division, Michael Clark delivered a dominant performance, sweeping the heats and the feature race. David Barrie and Miller Throckmorton completed the podium in second and third, respectively.
Avalon Raceway board & management extends if gratitude to the fans for their support of the 2025 President’s Cup presented by Kubota Australia
