VEAL STEALS SHOWDOWN AT AVALON!

Official Release – Avalon Raceway

Presented by Daimler Trucks Geelong

A packed crowd at Avalon Raceway witnessed an action-filled night of racing, capped off with a family-friendly finish time of 9:45 PM.

With 35 cars checked in, every point mattered in the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Track Championship, where $30,000 is on the line for the top ten drivers. The event also played a key role in the Distinct ICT Sprintcar Series, part of the SRA Victoria series.

Todd Moule led early, proving his racing pedigree, but lap traffic forced him off his preferred line, allowing Jamie Veal to seize the opportunity. Multiple restarts prevented any long green-flag runs, and with just four laps to go, Moule’s night ended in heartbreak as his engine let go—handing Veal the victory.

The drama didn’t stop there! Brock Hallett, after a poor qualifying run left him outside the six-car invert, had to battle through the B-Main just to make the feature. From there, he charged through the field, passing car after car to claim second place. Had he started further up, the fight for the lead could have been even more thrilling.

Tate Frost put on a similar performance, coming from as far back as seventh in the B-Main at one stage to transfer into the feature. Once there, he sliced through the competition to secure third place on the podium, making overtaking look effortless.

Luke Dillon & Josh Buckingham would round out the top five in a race which had multiple lanes, passes & drama built into it!

In Street Stocks action, Mitch Viney claimed the feature win, with Miller Throckmorton and Jensen Wilson rounding out the podium.

The Outlaw Kart Racing Victorian Club kicked off their double-header on the infield track, with former Speedcar driver Chris Nankiville taking victory in the Open class, followed by Jamie Payne and Luke Hickson.

In the Box Stock junior division, young racers put on a show of their own. Bodhi Doig from Bacchus Marsh took the win, while Kade Forster and Aston Tuckett finished second and third, respectively.
