PICKENS JOINS THE TRAIL

We’re excited to announce that New Zealand’s own Michael Pickens will be joining us for Round 1 of the 2025 Easter Sprintcar Trail presented by Camden Signage and Building Services — Good Friday, April 18, 2025, at The Place for Pace Avalon Raceway!

Pickens will team up with Matt and Renae Eastham in the Victory Lane Racegear V88 — a team renowned for supporting rising stars as well as some of the sport’s top-tier talent.

Widely regarded as one of the best Midget drivers in the world, Pickens is a 10-time New Zealand Midget Champion and no stranger to Avalon — having claimed a feature win here in the Australian Speedcar Grand Prix.

But it doesn’t stop there. Pickens has made six A-Main appearances at the Chili Bowl and achieved a career-best third-place finish in 2017.

And it’s not just Midgets where Pickens makes his mark. The Auckland native is also a force in Sprintcars, with multiple feature wins across New Zealand and a recent campaign in the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series in Perth.

Pickens recently arrived in Australia and competed in the Australian Speedcar Championship with Graham Jones Racing at Murray Bridge. He will make a one-off appearance at Avalon as part of the Easter Trail, due to other racing commitments.

We can’t wait to welcome him back to Avalon Raceway — and we hope to see you trackside on Good Friday, April 18th!
