VEAL DOES THE HEAVY HAULING TO CLAIM AVALON RACEWAY TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP

A total of four wins and a pair of runner-up finishes at Avalon Raceway during the 2024/25 Sprintcar season has seen Warrnambool’s Jamie Veal romp away with the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship presented by Camden and Transall Motors.

More than 60 Sprintcar drivers contested one or more of the seven rounds of the track championship that kicked off in October and concluded in April.

Veal, aboard the SWI Earthworks V35, opened the season with a three peat of A-main wins to setup a dominant season at the Lara, Victoria venue that will next season celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The only blemish on the record for Veal was a DNF during the Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek round.

South Australia’s Glen Sutherland was rewarded for his consistency after a strong start to the season finishing runner up to Veal and pocketing more than $5,000 for his result.

A total of $31,000 was paid out across the top 10 in the season long track championship following a tie for tenth saw the Avalon Raceway promotion increase the prize pool ensuring both Terry Rankin and Corey McCullagh would receive $1,000 each.

“We saw good numbers at each of the seven rounds of the track championship and thought it was the right thing to do instead of splitting the money between the tied drivers,” said Avalon’s Jeff Drew.

“Doolan’s Heavy Haulage jumped onboard this year’s track championship along with Camden Signage and Building Services and Transall Motors allowing us to increase prizemoney to the teams competing at our venue this season.

“We saw very good crowd numbers watching our Sprintcar events this season and we look forward to continuing to work hard to provide a viable place for teams to race going forward.”

Jeff Drew also confirmed that plans were well underway for next season already despite recently only concluding the season at Avalon Raceway in April.
