BOXING NIGHT DELIVERS AT AVALON
A packed house rolled through the gates last night for Avalon Raceway’s traditional Boxing Night event — and the racing didn’t disappoint.
Warrnambool’s Jamie Veal stamped his authority on the Sharp Cranes Sprintcar Gold Cup, charging to a dominant victory.
After Jordyn Charge started from pole following his Gold Dash win, it took just 7 laps for Veal to make a decisive move and sail away from the field showing why his a master of his craft at Avalon.
Charge capped off a strong return to the podium with second place, while Mount Gambier’s Parker Scott impressed the Avalon crowd, rounding out the podium and showing plenty of promise.
Brett Milburn continued his strong form with a solid fourth-place finish, just missing the podium, while Will Carroll completed the top five.
After some early hiccups Brody Chrystie powered away to claim the the Modified Production Christmas Cup, finishing nearly 10 seconds clear of the field. Darren Cockerill charged through to finish second, with Stuey Robinson using all 20 laps to secure third.
The Doolans Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship standings were turned on their head after Round 3, with valuable points at a premium as drivers chase the $10,000 prize pool, proudly presented by NAPA Geelong, Camden Signage & Building Services and Transall Motors.
