CHARGE CLAIMS SPEEDWEEK VICTORY

A landmark moment in Jordyn Charge’s sprintcar career came to life on Tuesday night as he delivered a commanding drive to put the V60 on the newly devloped NAPA Geelong victory lane podium in Round 4 of the Brandt Sprintcar Speedweek at Avalon Raceway, pocketing a $10,000 winner’s cheque in front of a packed house.

For a Tuesday night, Avalon Raceway was bursting at the seams, and the on-track action matched the atmosphere from start to finish.

Charge set the tone early with a sizzling qualifying lap before methodically working his way through the heat race. A favourable dash draw placed him in prime position for the feature, where he converted opportunity into execution with a polished grandstand performance.

The 35-lap feature ran uninterrupted after an early caution, setting the stage for a thrilling closing stanza. With heavy lapped traffic in the final five laps, Charge—aboard the Ken and Benisa Hutchins-owned machine and with family including baby Nixon in attendance—absorbed relentless pressure from some of the country’s very best.

Current Speedweek points leader Lockie McHugh and Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship leader Jamie Veal both challenged strongly. Veal showed his nose in the dying stages but was ultimately unable to force a way through, settling for third. McHugh claimed second, while Brock Hallett finished fourth and Daniel Pestka rounded out the top five.

The Street Stock division delivered drama in abundance, with the lead changing hands multiple times. Troy Hose was relentless in his pursuit of victory and was rewarded with a hard-earned feature win. Mitch Viney fought his way to second, while Steven Gartner secured the final podium position in third.

Tuesday night’s action was proudly presented by Brandt, with fantastic support from local sponsor Power Clean.

A family-friendly finishing time, a huge crowd and sensational racing capped off a memorable night at The Place For Pace. Avalon Raceway sincerely thanks the race fans, teams and drivers for contributing to such a successful event.
