BROCK ROCKS THE K-ROCK CUP ![]()
History was made last night at the Place For Pace – Avalon Raceway, as Hamilton’s Brock Atkins etched his name into the record books with a first-time victory in the prestigious K-ROCK Cup.
It was a win that didn’t come easy. Atkins was pushed all the way to the line by reigning Queensland Champion Brad Pascoe, with just 0.280 seconds separating first and second at the chequered flag. Pascoe charged forward like a man possessed after dropping as far back as sixth in the opening laps.
The Queenslanders dominated the podium, with Trent Wilson from Townsville rounding out third, making the long trip south more than worthwhile.
The Super Rods delivered another standout performance as part of Round Two of the tour, with added excitement thanks to the Sliders Bar Super Rod Slab Shuffle, claimed by Stan Marco Jnr.
It was very much a family affair in the Super Rods, with brothers, sons and multiple generations on track — and plenty of drama to go with it.
Alan Pitcher proved experience still counts, turning back the clock to outrun a hugely talented field and take victory. Stan Marco Jnr made a bold move to the outside groove that ultimately cost him the win, settling for second, while Jacob Pitcher completed the podium in third.
And then… The Demo Derby!
The crowd was left wanting nothing more as the Australian Demolition Derby Association (ADDA) delivered pure, unfiltered entertainment for the Victorian Championship.
Brock Clayton emerged as the last man standing in his Mitsubishi 380, outlasting brother Jamie Clayton to claim the win.
Special credit to Rhys Haack, who made the long haul from Queensland and put on a performance for the ages in what could only be described as a very unique ute at the end of it.
A huge thank you once again to K-ROCK for their continued support and long-standing partnership with Avalon Raceway.
