President’s Cup Format Tweak

The format for the Kubota President’s Cup as presented by Penrite Oil has
undergone an eleventh-hour tweak ahead of next week’s event.

The previously advertised format catered for up to 40 cars to make their way into the
heat races based on qualifying times. However, a larger than expected influx of
nominations, totalling 55 all up, will now see 48 cars qualify to contest the four
scheduled heat races.

This will mean that 12 cars instead of the original 10 car fields will battle it out in heat
racing. Any car failing to make the 48 car heat race line-ups will be able to tag the back of a
B-Main dependent on their qualifying flight.

The second notable change is that the C-Main has now been replaced by a second
B-Main, which once again will increase the financial commitment of Avalon Raceway
to the event. The total purse is now more than $55,000.00.

Four cars will now get the chance to transfer to the 35 lap A-Main, which will see the
third change made, with a 24-car field now set to battle it out for the $12,000.00 pay
day.

The additional positions, 21,22, 23 and 24 will receive the same prize money of $900
to start.

“It’s a good problem to have, and we fully appreciate the commitment of the teams
coming to run with us as a part of what is a very busy time in Australian Sprintcar
Racing”, Avalon Raceway Speedway Operations Manager David Mills said.

“We feel the revised format gives more teams a chance to compete and race with us,
thus providing amazing entertainment for our fans”, Mills added.

There has also been strong interest from teams with regards to the selling of team
merchandise on the night, while major supporting partners Penrite Oil also have
some exciting activations planned for the evening.

“We are thrilled to have the support of both Kubota and Penrite on board, and we
hope that when the fans arrive on Wednesday night that they get that Big Show vibe
as soon as they walk in the gates”, Mills concluded.
