MCFADDEN NOW A FOUR-TIME PRESIDENT

A Wednesday night in Lara, Victoria, has delivered one of the most memorable chapters in Avalon Raceway history, with the 2026 Kubota President’s Cup presented by Penrite Oil producing a spectacle worthy of its legacy.

James McFadden has etched his name even deeper into the history books, becoming a four-time President’s Cup winner. The Alice Springs native, now calling Warrnambool home, steered the Team Brady / PCB Australia #1 entry to victory, adding to his previous triumphs in 2016 and back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022.

With this latest success, McFadden now sits in elite company — just the third driver since 1982 to achieve four President’s Cup victories, joining Robbie Farr (6) and the legendary Max Dumesny (4).

With the easy to follow format seeing drivers start where they finished, it was Mount Gambier young gun Parker Scott who announced himself on the big stage. Scott claimed pole position after the President’s Dash and led the opening seven laps of the Feature before being hunted down by recent Sprintcar Power Tour winner Lachlan McHugh.

Drama soon followed, with McHugh making heavy contact with the wall and ultimately ending his night just after the 10-lap mark. From there, McFadden — starting from P5 — took control of the race and delivered a flawless drive to the chequered flag.

The battle for the minor placings was nothing short of frantic, with cars racing three-wide at times on an Avalon surface that has been widely described as one of the most entertaining in recent memory.

Carson Macedo claimed second position in the West Australian based J&S Drilling team, while the “Mad Man” Kerry Madsen charged from as far back as seventh to complete the podium in the W95 ,adapting quicky driving for Sean & Dot Carren.

In the Street Stocks, Mitch Clark saved his best for the Feature, backing up last year’s result with back-to-back President’s Cup victories. Dale Morrison fought hard to finish second, while Jacob Kelly rounded out the podium.

A special mention to Mitch Viney, who looked dominant over the opening seven laps before a gearbox issue forced him to relinquish the lead and take no further part in the race.

Avalon Raceway sincerely thanks Kubota and Penrite Oil for their continued support of this event — both brands play a vital role in delivering racing of this calibre.

The night also doubled as a round of the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship, proudly presented by NAPA Geelong, Camden Signage & Building Services, and Transall Motors, with a noticeable shake-up in the points.
