Geelong’s Avalon Raceway is set to welcome in the new speedway season on Saturday night, October 8 with the first scheduled meeting of what promises to be an exciting year. The first Club Show of the season will be the perfect way to fine tune everything before the following weekend’s Sprintcar Jackpot Invitational event.

The Lucas Oil Products Southern Speedcar Tour will contest their first round with defending champ Travis “Squizzy” Mills heading the field littered with experienced and rookie racers alike.

State Champ David McKay leads the Wingless Sprint nominations while a solid field in excess of 20 cars will take to the 390m venue.

Junior Sedans will also contest the opening round of the Crossfire Motorcycles Series while there will also be an emotional start to the evening with a minutes silence in a mark of respect for Junior Sedan star Michael Gorman who tragically lost his life earlier this week.

The ever popular Street Stocks and Modified Production Sedans round out a packed program of family entertainment this Saturday night.

Racing start at approximately 7pm.
