Following last weekend’s unfortunate rainout, Geelong’s Avalon Raceway has done everything in its power to ensure that this Saturday night’s event will be a memorable one. A great field of Speedcars are set to contest the first ever G Town Rumble while the Modified Production Sedans will compete for the time honoured West Coast Classic. Also on the program will be the very popular V8 Dirt Modifieds while in exciting news the Demolition Derby has been rescheduled to this weekends meeting.

The management at Avalon Raceway was forced to abandon last weekends meeting following persistent showers throughout the evening. With the ever popular Demolition Derby rescheduled to this Saturday night’s program, Avalon Raceway commentator Brian Alexander is confident of a great night.

“We couldn’t believe our luck last weekend with the weather unfortunately beating us in the end. A lot of people came out to see the K Rock Cup and the Demolition Derby and we thought the only thing we could do was put the Demo on this weekend.”

Alexander also confirmed the K Rock Cup for the Super Sedans would be rescheduled to February 5.

“This Saturday night we have a number of Speedcar competitors coming out of Sydney to take on the best Victoria has to offer for the G Town Rumble while the best of the best Modified Production Sedans racers will be here for the West Coast Classic.”

Australian Speedcar champion Nathan Smee leads the nominations while Mark Brown is always quick at the Lara venue. The very speedy Matt Smith from New South Wales will also join Harley Bishop, Troy Jordan and Travis Mills in a very strong field as they all chase the healthy prizemoney purse that is on offer.

“The Demo Derby is a huge drawcard and it’s inclusion into this weekends event now makes this event one of the highlights on the calendar that’s for sure,” said Alexander.

Local ace and former national champion Mark Carlin is the defending West Coast Classic champion while Justin Drew will also be a major challenger. Gates open at 4:30pm while racing action begins at 7pm.
