Tonight’s scheduled event at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway has been cancelled due to the rain falling on the venue and surrounding areas. The pits and the track itself are currently covered by a sheet of water and management were left with no alternative but to cancel the event.
“It started about 8am and was pretty light but it has got steadily heavier as the day has gone on,” said Avalon’s Jeff Drew.
“You can almost see the water rising at the moment and I think we might get flooded this time.”
Avalon now looks forward to December 10 when the Sprintcars return to contest the Fireball Derby while the popular Super Rods will also be on the program.
