Sunday night’s Enzed World Series Sprintcars event at Avalon will double as the fourth round of the Essendon Ford Sprintcar track championship with a brand new leader following Boxing Night’s Eureka Garages and Sheds Gold Cup. Wednesday night’s winner David Murcott has now shot to the top of the leader board while Mike Van Bremen has also emerged as a contender as he is equal third with Matthew Reed.
Murcott’s 130 point lead over Steven Lines will be put to the test Sunday night as both drivers will contest the Avalon round of WSS with Murcott a perennial winner of the event while Lines won both track championship rounds earlier this season at the venue.
Joining the likes of Murcott and Lines will be defending track champion and WSS series champion James McFadden along with a host of US stars including Shane Stewart, Tim Kaeding, Jason Johnson, Caleb Griffith and Kyle Hirst.
Everyone is currently trying to catch Adelaide’s Luke Dillon who kicked off this week with back to back wins in the series at Adelaide and Murray Bridge. Dillon’s form thus far has been exceptional including his win at Murray Bridge that saw him win the B-main then scorch through the field to win the A-main.
With the hour long ‘Pit Party’ from 3pm this Sunday, fans are encouraged to arrive early with on track action kicking off at approximately 6pm.
