LADY LUCK TO PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN JACKPOT OUTCOME

No major rule changes will be implemented in next weekend’s 10K to win Sprintcar Jackpot at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway.

Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew confirmed today that the Jackpot final will be contested by the night’s top 12 sprintcar racers over 10 laps for 10K to win.

“Some folks have suggested 15 drivers over 15 laps, double file re-starts and inverted start, but this race was carefully thought out six years ago and we wanted it to be different to other events,” Jeff confirmed today.

“If you start tinkering at the edges with rules it will lead to confusion, so everything is the same as in previous years,” he added.

Sponsored by Combined Waste and supported by Essendon Ford with 20 premiership appearance points to every driver, luck will still play a major hand in the final outcome.

Jamie Veal, Victoria’s outstanding success story in Sydney this year with his black #35 sprinter, is a popular pick.

Winning three successive feature races up there has boosted his self confidence as he is likely to demonstrate to the Nation’s top sprintcar racers next weekend on the Avalon clay..
