The K-Rock Cup has been part of the V8 super sedan calendar for 35 years.
And the 2015 edition of hard top tradition is ready to roll at Avalon Raceway this Saturday night, along with the long awaited Routleys Demolition Derby.
Defending sedan champ Lucas Roberts has a two from two scenario in mind, but the affable Mick Nicola Jnr reasons the time has come for a little intervention.
So too Ash Bergmeier who would love to get out of the Roberts-Nicola exhaust smoke.
The K-Rock Cup has been held on the first Saturday in January since Adam was in short pants and its appeal was strengthened with the addition of the Routleys Demolition Derby some years ago.
“Interstate tracks have some reliance of Demolition Derby contests whereas Avalon has two long standing events, one in January and the other at our Easter trail event,” Raceway spokesman Jeff Drew said today.
Routleys came on board several years ago and the annual serving of bangers and mash has gone over well with race fans.
A strong field of 25 super rods are also entered for Saturday’s big meeting.
Racing will start at 7.00 p.m. while entrance gates open at 3.00 p.m.
Adult admission is $30, juniors (12-16) $10 and kids (11 and under) are free.
On Saturday week (January 10) sprintcars return for a unique double-header, the Victorian State championships for both the 410 and 350 wing mean machines.
