TWO big annual features headline some hot racing this Saturday night at Avalon Raceway.
Speedcars will again have a strong lineup for their annual battle in the G-Town Rumble while a field of 16 Modified Production cars will compete for honours in the West Coast Classic.
The speedcars put on some great racing late last year at Avalon and with some of Victoria and South Australia’s best drivers entered it’s sure to be another action-packed night of racing. Add to the mix 15 furious V8 Dirt Modified’s and the excitement of the open-wheel brigade will be a must-see.
Avalon Raceway director Jeff Drew said he expected racing would again be tight and will be seeking feedback for track curators before next Wednesday night’s prestigious President’s Cup for sprintcars.
“This race meeting on the weekend has again attracted good numbers and some pretty handy drivers in all three classes,” Drew said.
“Both the G-Town Rumble and The West Coast Classic are sought-after events to win and I’m expecting the same this year.
“We’ll be seeking some feedback from drivers on the night as we prepare for the President’s Cup next week, so we’ll be keen to see how it all runs on Saturday.”
Next week’s major sprintcar race of the season for Avalon has attracted a field of nearly 60 sprintcars including a dozen top American drivers all chasing the $10,000 first prize.
Of those Americans already confirmed is the reigning World of Outlaws sprintcar champion Daryn Pittman.
Public gates for this Saturday will open at 4pm with racing from 7pm.
